The challenge
As part of the CNTR redevelopment programme, an existing government office building in Halle was transformed into a modern workplace for the Belgian Federal Public Service Finance and Federal Public Service Justice. The project aimed to consolidate multiple administrations into a single location while drastically reducing the occupied floor area. Creating a comfortable, future-proof indoor climate within an existing building structure was a key challenge in achieving the project's ambitious sustainability objectives.
The collaborative process
The success of the project was built on close collaboration between Downtown Real Estate, M-gineers, 51N4E and the wider project team. From the earliest design stages, all partners worked together to align architectural, technical and sustainability requirements. This integrated approach ensured that indoor comfort, energy performance and long-term flexibility were considered throughout the redevelopment process, resulting in a building that meets the needs of both occupants and the asset owner.
